Harrow is the sixth member of the Ancients to appear in the story. Her role in the group is the scout.
Appearance
Harrow is a harpy (or so she is made to appear) with long dark gray hair, a black beak-like nose, and dark gray eyes which include the white signature rings of all Ancients. Her attire consists of a top that’s attached to a choker, a tattered skirt, and belted straps attached at the back. She also wears a dark hood over her head which bears the segmented diamond emblem of the Ancients. Her wings, feathers, and talons are made of magically imbued steel.
Personality
Having only made her introduction as of the latest book, what has been seen of this harpy is a rather calm and collected mind behind a stoic face. She follows her master’s orders without question and with great honor, however what her tasks have been for the Ancients hasn’t been made known yet.
Abilities:
Fast Flyer: Her metal wings allow her to fly with ease and have been shown to be able to create strong gusts of wind when in motion.
Ancient Traversal Skills: Her magical abilities include being able to shift into “the breach” by herself, in similar fashion as Vale and other pixies have done before. This strange sub-space allows her to travel across untold distances with ease.
Strength: Although how strong she is remains to be fully seen, it has been shown that her talons are incredibly sharp and durable, being able to scratch and even cut through ancient metals that have proved to be virtually indestructible during the series. She is also the one suspected to have critically wounded Valentina who last seen is now bedridden with her injuries in Shadow’s Refuge.
The Ancient Harpy
As explained by Minos in S2. Act I, Harrow and her fellow disciples are not just extremely powerful and dangerous monsters, they were the first of their respective races to come into existence. This being the case, it stands to reason that Harrow wasn’t born into the world by normal means, seeing as she had none of her kind that came before her.
As an Ancient, Harrow is gifted not only with supernatural magic and strength, she is also able to be revived by her master should she ever die. Though it has been stated it takes about a century for an Ancient to be resurrected after their death, she is able to effectively come back from the dead as many times as her master wishes. This also plays into how Aeon is unable to perceive her or the other Ancients’ actions in the timeline. As an Ancient who is more or less unbound by the laws of life and death, Harrow has no timeline of her own that she follows, thus her actions in the world are shrouded in mystery even for the Dark Queen of Time.
