Another Update On Everything (A big one)

Hello all! It’s been a while since I last posted an update, so I figured I’d best let everyone know I’m still alive and kicking. A lot has been going on in my life and I’ve been meaning to post more often so readers know what’s coming up next with my books, so I’m sorry to keep everyone waiting.

First off, I’m sure everyone has noticed a recent increase in illustrations I’ve been posting, and also that they’re created with AI. I know some people don’t mind if art is made in AI, and others don’t like it for one reason or another. So let me be clear with my stance on it and how it’s being used with me. To start with, I personally don’t mind AI art. Yes, it’s not always perfect, believe me I’ve gone through many failed creations before uploading the art pieces you now see in the gallery. Sometimes the AI gets it spot on, other times it takes multiple tries to get even the simplest thing correct. That’s how it goes, and only time will help AI get better and more reliable. I don’t mind that fact.

For now, know that I’ve only been using the AI for fun and extra illustrations to post online. It’s amazing to me how easily it can create art and I’ve always wanted to have more illustrations and ideas for the characters come to life. And yes, and it’s considerably cheaper and easier to do it that way, I won’t lie. But for my published books, those are still using artwork created by humans. Maybe I will switch to AI with those in the future, but for now I don’t mind paying the higher prices for illustrations made by human beings to use with the books as I want those art pieces to not only be similar to one another to keep it consistent, but also when it comes to monstergirls, AI can sometimes be hard to wrangle with. I can’t tell you how many times Specca’s illustrations came out with her having a mermaid tail. Mermaids are not nixies, AI! Why don’t you understand this?? And have you noticed that Reiko hasn’t had any AI art of her made yet? Yes, the AI doesn’t understand how Reiko should look given her monster form. Still working on that. And if that doesn’t work out, at least she is getting a new look soon in Season II ;)

So for those who don’t like AI art, you can rest easy knowing the books I publish are still using art made by humans. And for those that don’t mind AI art, I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing all the extra content made for the series. And if you have any suggestions of what you’d like to see with the characters next, let me know in the comments.

Next up, what’s going to happen with my publishing given what happened with Amazon? First, regarding my Amazon store page getting taken down, and since Amazon support won’t even reply to my inquiries about it anymore, it’s safe to say they don’t care that they wrongfully terminated another indie publisher and are just going to keep looking the other way. That being the case, there are two things I’m going to be doing. Number 1, I’m going to keep publishing to the many other online retailers that are hosting my books, with all the store links being listed under each book on my AGordonPublishing and Chronicles of Eden websites. I’m also getting ready to have paperback and hardcover versions of them made again with other retailers, more on that later. And, Number 2, I’m debating adding a tagline to all my books now. Perhaps something along the lines of “Chronicles of Eden – A monstergirl harem series too hot for Amazon!”. What do you all think? It’s a work in progress.

Regarding the next book in the series, that would be Hunters – Act II, with the initial draft for Season II – Act VI also being written up and planned for release after. I’m looking forward to expanding the world of Eden through Seth’s eyes, and the new faces that are going to be showing up will bridge the side story with the main story even closer together. It’s almost like they’re going to cross over at some point, am I right?

Lastly, what have I been doing in my spare time, if any, when not writing? The usual really. Been working on getting through my expansive movie and anime backlog (it’s a losing battle, but I still must try). On the gaming front, I’ve been enjoying Helldivers 2 (For Democracy!), the classic world in World of Warcraft (For The Alliance!), the stories and amazing characters in Genshin Impact (For my teams of hot, badass girls!), and also journeying once again through the world of Skyrim (For the Dark Brotherhood! Yes, I’m not always on the side of justice in these games).

So that’s about it for now. I’ll try to post more updates frequently to keep everyone up to speed on what’s going on with my books and such, and of course I plan to post more illustrations of Eden to bring more of the world and its fantasy to life for all. Until next time, stay awesome everyone!

As a long-time fan of your work, even buying your books a second time after having lost access to them on my kindle, it is devastating to hear your appreciation of AI, considering the extremely negative effect it is having on the artistic community, your community. As an author, you should know that writing is as much an art form as drawing, painting, or other visual arts. To hear you so fervently defend the use of AI art as it steals the work, style, and livelihoods of your fellow artists is heartbreaking. If it was a matter of cost, I would have preferred seeing no art in your books to that of AI. Do you not see how easily AI is capable of destroying the careers of artists because it is “cheaper and easier”? Do you think you aren’t affected by its use either? AI is being used to write books now, copying and stealing the hard work of authors just like yourself. This is all not to even mention the devastating environmental toll that the data-centers are having with their massive consumption of water. I have family members and friends who are slowly losing their careers and their passions for art and computing due to the rapid growth of AI capability. I understand I may just be a single voice, a statistic, but I beg you to research the effect of AI and reconsider your use of it. I dont mind reading books without illustrations of your characters if you can’t afford them and I dont mind waiting longer for your work if it takes time to pay for and get the artwork commissioned, but if you continue on your path of using AI in your work, I just cannot support you anymore. I was so excited for the continuation of The Chronicles of Eden, but I’m now concerned I may never get to know the ending.

    1. I understand your aversion to AI, and that’s perfectly fine. As I said, some people like it, some don’t, and some don’t care either way. But as I mentioned in my post, my books will continue to have illustrations made from actual people, not AI. I don’t mind supporting the artists by paying them for their hard work. I’m only using AI for fun with my own characters from my own works on my own time.

You don’t have to like or even look at that art if you don’t want to, they are placed in their own separate gallery. And if me using the AI for those illustrations is enough to push you away from reading any more of the series, then I’m sorry it ruined the story for you, that wasn’t the intention.

I have seen what AI is capable of and what it means for artists today. And it’s not just going to go away now that the genie is out of the bottle. New modern and technological services can always change things for those that use the craft by hand, not just with art. While there’s no telling if there will be any laws or regulations put forth for it, or how artists from all walks will adapt to the new technology, the truth is it’s going to be out there and available, and only getting more capable as time goes on.

And yes, I’m aware even writing stories will very likely be done by AI in the future. That’s just a next logical step it’s going to take eventually. And to that I say, it is what it is. I’m sure even those that rode horses and carriages back in the day strongly detested the automobile being created. Or factory workers that built those cars eventually being replaced by robots that could do it. I don’t see AI being any different, and I’m prepared for that. At the very least, I’ll continue to write my own stories just for fun if that’s what it comes down to, because as I’ve always said, I love to write, and that’s what I aim to do.

For now, I’m just enjoying AI for what it is; a tool that someone like me who couldn’t draw a stick figure to save his life can use for fun in his spare time. I don’t see technological progress as evil, just something that needs to be controlled and properly implemented for all to enjoy. But if my rambling here fell on deaf ears, I still understand and accept that. I can never make anyone choose to like or even read my stories, that’s up to them. At the very least, if I have lost you as a reader after all this time, sorry to let you down, but thank you for being a reader and fan for so long. I do appreciate it.

  2. I don’t mind AI art,it can be good depending on its quality. I appreciate you still hiring artists for official releases of your books.

I hope you get to releasing physical books soon, I’m still kicking myself over not purchasing those hard covers.

I can see why Nixies are uncommon so the AI has to work harder. I do find the idea of a Mermaid Specca to be very cute.

I don’t play those games but I’m happy to hear you are enjoying yourself.

I look forward to the gallery updates been really enjoying them. They all look amazing in their bunny outfits I could almost imagine them working in a casino and all the hijinks that would come along with that.

Can’t wait to see what other scenarios you come up with.

I wonder if you are planning on making more monster dex entries. I would love to see what a Gremlin looks like.

    1. Yes, some of the girls the AI has more trouble with than others. And yes, Specca as a mermaid was interesting to see, I can’t lie. I’m glad you’re enjoying the illustrations of the girls so far. As for the physical books, I’m hoping to have store links for those up sometime soon. Will keep everyone updated on when they go live.
